Shared Lives

Shared lives is living with a family in their home, usually having your own bedroom and sharing the other parts of the house. The family are trained and regulated by Hampshire Adult Services. Housing benefit will usually pay the rent on the bedroom and the care provided by the family will be funded by Adult Services and where relevant, client contributions. Referrals for Shared Lives can be made by social care or health professionals. As the scheme is operated by Hampshire Adult Services you will need to meet the eligibility criteria to gain access to Shared Lives.

Shared lives can be a good option for people who like to live in a family environment. Although you will be enouraged to live your own life and develop the skills you need to be more independent, you will need to think about whether you are compatible with the family and how they live their lives.
